Project Background

One of the worlds leading critical power and UPS standby generator manufacturers, contacted  Servistec / Enertec to design, install and commission  a  close control cooling system at their clients site in Le Havre, France. This followed a previous collaboration on a similar POD system installation in Liverpool UK.

Servistec / Enertec, were awarded the contract to set out, supply and fabricate all of the interconnectiing pipework between 2 No. 88kw packaged air cooled chillers and a POD (Performance Optimised Datacentre).

All pipework had to be fabricated and welded to exacting petrochemical standards using 304L stainless steel tube.

The site was set out and measured and the pipework was then fabricated, x-rayed and tested at our UK workshops, prior to delivery to France for installation by our field teams.

All transportation, loading and offloading was organised and supervised by Servistec / Enertec to ensure that the installation of the new chillers was undertaken with minimum disruption to the clients operations.

All cooling plant cabling and control interfaces between the chillers, Powerhouse and POD, including final commissioning and training was undertaken by Servistec / Enertec personnel. All work was finally tested by the international independent testing body APAVE prior to handover.

The System

Comprises 2 No. Stulz 88kw packaged CyberCool chillers, 1 No. Packaged  Stulz service and pressure vessel. The control configuration ensures that the POD cold aisle temperature is maintained at design parameters under all processing load conditions, and sufficient redundancy is built into the design to ensure service availability at all times.  The chilled water and refrigerant systems were fully commissioned by Servistec / Enertec, and handed over c/w with all O&M documentation and drawings on time and within budget.

In addition the Powerhouse, standby diesel powered generator and flywheel UPS, ensures that even in the event of a total power failure the POD and cooling plant  will remain fully functional.

Servistec have also commissioned the two STULZ WLDA units to the Powerhouse control room. The two precision air conditioning units provide free cooling during low ambient temperatures.
