Project Background
The client, a national facilities management company, contacted Servistec / Enertec to replace a defective roof top mounted air cooled chiller.
The chiller was critical to both comfort and computer server cooling within the 5 storey building. It was critical that the system down time was minimised.
The works were prepared whilst the system was left fully operational and the changeover was completed within a 4 day period including 1 weekend. There was no disruption to the chilled water supply during the clients operating hours.
Energy consumption was also a major driver and all of the equipment needed to conform to Class A Energy Rating.
Servistec / Enertec, were awarded the design, supply, installation and control of the replacement chiller and rooftop chilled water distribution system.
All transportation, craneage, loading and offloading was organised and supervised by Servistec / Enertec to ensure that the crane lift removal of the original and placement of the new chillers was undertaken with minimum disruption to the clients car parking facility.
The System
Comprises of 1 No. Carrier Aquasnap 130 kW chiller installed on the 5th floor roof top. Internally the chilled water is distributed to a series of chilled water cooling coils mounted behind the ceilings to each area within the buildings 5 floors. Each unit being fitted with insulated distribution pipework to enable even distribution of cooling. 76mm carbon steel, insulated, index pipelines connect the chiller to the internal air handlers.
The system was fully commissioned by Servistec / Enertec and is now fully operational and performing as per the agreed design parameters.
